How to Ensure Your Ground Source Heat or Geothermal Heating and Cooling Project Goes Smoothly…

…And How To Ensure It’s Right First Time!

Harnessing the outstanding benefits of renewable energy is a very complex and specialist project. It is essential, therefore that the company you choose to help you complete your project or realise your vision, has the qualification and proven knowledge and experience to do so. They must have unparalleled expertise. In an industry currently unregulated, it is up to you to understand and determine whether your designer / installer is, in fact, qualified to do so. It should be remembered that even a poorly designed geothermal system will work…..initially ! It may take months or even a number of years for design problems to manifest themselves by which time, IT IS TOO LATE !!! LoopMaster has this expertise and a vast amount of experience in the in the geothermal industry. We have International Ground Source Heat Pump Association ( IGSHPA ) qualified Geo-Exchange Designers. We also employ hydrogeologists, drilling engineers, contract managers and an architect. Both directors are from a drilling contracting background.

If you’re a professional Building Services Engineer, M&E consultant or building contractor, it is important that you understand that the design, consulting and project management element of geothermal technology is particularly crucial. The slightest mistake can jeopardise an entire project and lead to wasted resources, long delays and high, unnecessary costs.

Specialising in the consultancy, project supervision and quality management of ground source installation for geothermal heating and cooling applications … LoopMaster are well placed to help you maximise the efficiency of your contract.

Choosing a Geothermal Specialist rather than a Design and Build Contractor has many advantages.

Why Using a Specialist Geothermal Consultant from the Beginning Is a Big Advantage…

There are risks involved with any construction project, and minimising them is critical. It’s often perceived that the risk simply passes down from the main or M&E contractor with appointment of a geothermal contractor but this is simply not the case. The risk is shared between all parties involved. If something goes wrong with the heating and cooling system of a sizeable project, there will be huge repercussions for all parties so GET IT RIGHT FIRST TIME !!

The reality is that each contractor has a warranty, but it only covers the particular part of the project they’re responsible for. By spreading the risk you have more control. For example, if you place the entire contract with a Design and Build Contractor and they go out of business the liability all shifts directly to the main contractor. If you have a specialist Geothermal Design Consultant, a specialist drilling contractor and a specialist-fitting contractor your risk is greatly minimised and your protection is increased.

A significant proportion of the work completed by LoopMaster has involved taking over projects when:

    • The main contractor has realised that the Design and Build Contractor is floundering due to lack of knowledge in this highly specialised area
    • The Design and Build Contractor has got it wrong and LoopMaster have been called in to put it right.

It doesn’t cost anymore to get it right first time so why take the unnecessary risk? Getting it right first time greatly reduces the risk of Liquidated Damages. Click here for a checklist to help you reduce your risk.

LoopMaster are not affiliated to any particular heat pump manufacturer. We will work around the teams preferred supply chain or specify the plant that is most suited to a particular application.

LoopMaster’s purpose is to support contractors, developers and service engineers through totally transparent reporting. We believe that the geothermal industry as a whole has an obligation to ensure that installations are well designed, correctly applied and fit for purpose, they must also have longevity.
